Hypnotherapy-Psychotherapy-Alternative Therapy & Counselling

HYPNOTHERAPY 1-2-1 & Group sessions

Hypnotherapy involves the induction of a trance like condition (deep relaxation)Where upon the therapist can address the subconscious mind. During this state one aims to re-programme patterns of behaviour with the client's mind, by enlisting the powers of the client's own imagination, and utilising a range of techniques such as metaphors, story-telling and symbolism. `this enables the client to be able to change their behavioural habits, addiction, fears, phobias etc.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: -If you suffer from epilepsy, schizophrenia or clinical depression, you should consult your GP before approaching an hypnotherapist.

PSYCHOTHERAPY 1-2-1 sessions only

There are many ways of helping people to overcome stress, emotional problems, relationship problems or troublesome habits .Psychotherapy is a treatment based on talking to another person and sometimes doing things together., known as one of the "talking treatments". I work within four different areas of Psychotherapy, the first being: -

PSYCHO DYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY

This Is where I help you to focus on the feelings that you may have about other people, in particular family and those we are close . The sessions involve the discussing of past experiences and how these may have led to the present situation and also how these past experiences may be affecting your life now. The acceptance and understanding of experiences allows one to be free to make choices about what happens in the future.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is quite often a brief therapy used for specific difficulties. If your problems should be long-standing, it may be advisable to attending regular sessions over a period of time, with the progress being monitored.

BEHAVIOURAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

With this therapy I tend to concentrate on changing the patterns of behaviour, in a more direct manor. Usually this approach helps one to overcome fears, simply by allowing one to spend spend more and more time in the situation that is feared, or by learning ways of reduce the anxiety that the fear triggers off. You may be given 'homework' in the way exercises, or keeping a daily log or even to practice new skills in between your sessions.

This therapy is particularly effective for anxiety, panic, phobias, obsessive-compulsive problems and various kinds of social or sexual difficulty. Relief from symptoms often occurs quite quickly.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

Similar to behavioural psychotherapy, but concentrating more on changing the thinking patterns directly. Here I encourages discussion of how you think which helps to get rid of destructive and negative ways of thinking. With this therapy we tend to concentrate more on the present and future as oppose to the past. This method helps in particular in the treatment of certain types of depression.

FAMILY AND MARITAL THERAPY

People's problems will often not be theirs alone, but are often the result of relationship problems in a marriage, partnership or family. By focusing very clearly on the relationships involved, and by involving all the people concerned, family and marital family therapy seek to help those relationships to work better.

Psychotherapy involves regular sessions at the same time, same place every week or two weeks. In individual psychotherapy, one patient and one therapist talk together in a quiet room, usually for 50 minutes or so.The length of the treatment is dependent on the client(s) and the therapist(s) within a month or so of starting. What happens during a session is usually considered confidential to the people in that session.
In group therapy, several people with similar sorts of problems come together regularly with a therapist or therapists. These sessions may be longer than in individual psychotherapy. Group therapy often comes across as less intimate, but it does not affect the treatment in anyway or make a group session less adequate than a 1-2-1 session, in fact it is the best treatment for some problems. The experience of discovering one is not alone, and of being able to help other people, is powerfully encouraging and is often the first step towards getting better.

There are many psychotherapists who do not have a background as psychiatrists, psychologists or social workers, but have an in-depth training in psychotherapy. You should ask your GP who will be able to refer you to a qualified psychotherapist in your area. It is important that a psychotherapist has a recognised qualification and your GP should ensure that this is the case before making a referral.

STRESS/ANGER MANAGEMENT 1-2-1 & group sessions

Anger is an emotion that we all show at one time or another, sometimes in a positive manner, but often we display anger and stress in a negative manner, Anger can actually serve some important functions, particularly that of moving us to action when things need changing in our lives. Thus if we were programmed not to show anger we would in fact be suppressing that emotion causing stress or 'blowing up' at inopportune times and causing even more problems than if we had expressed anger in healthy ways. The goal of anger management is twofold: to eliminate unnecessary anger, and to express necessary anger in healthy ways. Which in turn enables one to enjoy healthier relationships and have less stress in ones life.

THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLING 1-2-1 & group sessions

This approach of counseling is both humanistic and existential rather than psychoanalytic, and as such it has similarities to Gestalt psychotherapy. It also has similarities to person centred counselling but concentrates on the relationship between counsellor and client.

In all our day to day relationships we act in (sometimes unconscious) ways which lead us to be treated by others often in patterns which repeat themselves. We fall into patterns of behaviour which happen time and time again. If these patterns have a negative effect on our life it is time to change them. Within a therapeutic relationship many of our common behaviours get acted out, referred to as transference. The skilled counselor can however hold the boundaries of your transferred feelings towards the self so thus the relationship can then be experienced in an atmosphere of trust and safety. It is often not necessary for the therapist to make the client's behaviour known explicitly. Just the experiencing of the relationship can be enough to bring about lasting therapeutic changes.

COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY 1-2-1 & group sessions

Colour is light, which travels to us in waves from the sun, on the same electro-magnetic spectrum as radio and television waves, microwaves, x-rays etc. Light is the only part of the spectrum that we can see, which perhaps explains why we take it less seriously than the invisible power of the other rays. Sir Isaac Newton demonstrated that light travels in waves, when he shone white light through a triangular prism and, when the different wavelengths of light refracted at different angles, he was able to demonstrate that the colours of the rainbow (the spectrum) are the component parts of light.

When light strikes any coloured object, the object will absorb only the wavelengths that exactly match its own atomic structure and reflect the rest - which is what we see. Turn this around and it is easy to understand how the colour of anything is a clear indication of its atomic structure or, in simple terms, what it is made of. When light strikes the human eye, the wavelengths do so in different ways, influencing our perceptions. In the retina, they are converted into electrical impulses that pass to the hypothalamus, the part of the brain governing our hormones and our endocrine system.

The hypothalamus (with the pituitary) governs:

  • Water regulation
  • Sleeping and behavioural patterns
  • The balance of the autonomic nervous system
  • Sexual and reproductive functions
  • Metabolism
  • Appetite
  • Body temperature
  • The hypothalamus houses the body's biological clock

ENERGY HEALING 1-2-1 & group sessions

This form of therapy removes the imbalances in your human energy field, chakras, and aura. It is an alternative therapy, whereas the therapist discerns and clears blocks from the aura, through a practiced focus and spiritual alignment. By removing the blocks in turn increase the energy flow, the more balanced the energy flow, the healthier one becomes. Energy blocks or imbalances can often be the cause of illness, depression, can even distort our perceptions, and dampen our feelings. By removing the blocks we are actually aiding the restoration of the natural energy flow which in turn brings feelings of peace and harmony.

Energy healing is a spiritual approach to inner harmony, clarity, and alignment. We provide this therapy in a very supportive non-adversarial and non-coercive way. There are no imposed attitudes or beliefs. We are able to sense the subtle changes that occur in the aura and chakras enabling us to be able to find the blocks and distortions. We are able to assist you to experience transformation and balance, using techniques such as releasing, re framing, healing the memories, and self-forgiveness, by balancing the aura and expanding it into wholeness, until all the blocks are cleared and the energy field becomes smooth and silky.

This then allows your aura to resume integrating your body, mind, and spirit as you regain your natural holistic health and wellness. Your aura is once again fluid, smooth, and energized. It resumes its natural function of nourishing the body and protecting the psyche.

SUGGESTION THERAPY 1-2-1 sessions only

Suggestion therapy unlike some of the other mentioned therapies, has short-term effects (usually lasting a few weeks to a few months) therefore is not classified as a life changing therapy. Even so, it is very effective, but as stated only lasts for a few weeks. On this basis, suggestion therapy is then ideally suited for treating the more simple problems and symptoms such as stopping smoking, exam nerves, nail biting, pre-test nerves, flying anxiety etc.

Some of the symptoms successfully treated by Natalie over the years include: depression, anxiety, fears and phobias, confidence, weight loss, smoking cessation, sports injuries, panic attacks, social phobias and many more.
